Mar 28 2010 from Cleveland

Habari Bashir! I am just getting on my computer to write my Son an email! Mr. Jimmy and I are home safely. I'm sending this right now in case you are still at the Internet Cafe. I will write a longer email after this. Your Loving Mum

Mar 28 2010 from Cleveland

My Dear Son, I'm so sorry you were worried. Mr. Jimmy and I arrived home safely from Florida last night (Saturday) as planned. Then we were so exhausted, we could only sleep and sleep for hours! This morning, we had to go shopping for staples. This afternoon (Sunday), when I sat down at the computer to email you, I suddenly received your email expressing your concern for us! I replied immediately with a short note to reassure you, but you must have been gone from the Internet Cafe already.

I was glad to read about the excellent 4-0 victory of MANCHESTER UNITED over BOLTON WANDERER!

Now I am ready to answer your questions about Florida.

"What have you brought for me from Florida?"

I have brought you some pictures, a small souvenir, and a tiny beautiful seashell I found on the beach.

For Hilda I have brought a picture and a small souvenir.

Could you ask Hilda if I may send these items in a little package to her post office box?

Also, Hilda should be receiving the package with the books by Wed 31 March.

"Once again I welcome you at home & I hope to start again sending daily Emails as we always do."

Thank you for your wonderful welcome to us! My heart smiled to discover your emails. Yes, for sure, let us send our daily emails again beginning now.

"Does it mean that My Dad Mr.Jimmy's home is Florida? Is Cleveland a home of you Mum?"

Your Dad's home is Cleveland, but his Mum and Dad moved to Florida years ago. Lots of Americans like them "retire" to Florida. Do you know "retire"? It means to stop working once you have reached old age. Florida is a little warmer than Cleveland, so many retired people like to go there.

My home is Boston, where I was born and raised, but then I moved to Cleveland when I was about 11 years old. So I now call Boston, Cleveland, and Dar Es Salaam my homes!

On Wed 31 March, I will go to Western Union to send you money for your mattress and for you to send your father.

MAY GOD BLESS MY WONDERFUL SON BASHIR!

Your loving and grateful Mum

Mar 24 2010 from Dar Es Salaam

Hi Mum!

We thumped Liverpool by 2-1. The game was tough & Unpredictable, but there is a say which says that ''Nobody Survives at the Theatre of Dreams''. Manchester United's Stadium is OLD TRAFFORD & it's nick name is ''The theatre of Dreams''. We are now Confortably on top of the League.

God is really great for reaching you in Florida so safely & Easily. I think they are all happy to see your Presence there in Florida. Please don't forget to let them know that you got a new Son by the Name of Bashir! I will visit them in Florida one day if God wishes. Does it mean that My Dad Mr.Jimmy's home is Florida? Is Cleveland a home of you Mum?

Mum! For the time been you are in Florida, Then who has remained with your house in Cleveland?
Do you stay with a house maid? What about the Cats of Cleveland? whom they are with right now?

Nice to hear about the Cats of Florida Rosei & King, I think I will one day have a see them.

Please say Hie for me to My Dad's Niece called 'ASHLY'. Does She work at the Boat? Then she is always busy, isn't she?
Please tell her about me too!!!

I wish you a continous nice stay in Florida & I will always ask God to keep you safe untill you return to Cleveland.

Please don't forget to greet Mr.Jimmy & everyone.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU MUM!!

Hello, my dear Bashir! I wanted to send this note to my fine son to say "Mambo" and let you know we are enjoying a lovely time here in Florida. All is well and we continue to be safe and happy, having good times with Mr. Jimmy's mum and dad. They have two cats, Rosie and King, who we also like to play with! Today it was chilly but sunny and we took a boat ride, which was great fun. I pray for you and think of you all throughout each day and hope you are healthy, eating well, and having good times and success at college! I will email you again as soon as possible. I am typing this on the same little computer you saw me use in the lobby of the Palm Beach Hotel!

MAY GOD BLESS MY PRECIOUS SON!
Your faithful and loving Mum

Mar 21 2010 from Flagler Beach FLA

Habari, Son! Thank you for your prayers and good wishes -- Mr. Jimmy and I have arrived safely here in Florida. The two-day trip was pleasant because we stayed overnight at a hotel when we were halfway between Cleveland and Florida. While Mr. Jimmy drove, I was reading books and writing and watching the scenery out the window, so it was very nice for me. We slept well at the hotel. Mr. Jimmy's Mum and Dad are very well and I will tell them all about our new son Bashir. Mr. Jimmy's niece is here, too. Her name is Ashley and she is the same age as you and Douglas! She works on boats and she must leave tomorrow to join her new boat on the Gulf of Mexico. For tonight I will say usiku mwemu and will email my dear son again soon. I hope to hear of a great victory by Manchester United!

MAY GOD BLESS MY FINE SON!
Your faithful and loving Mum

Hi Mum!

I hope you are already on the way to Florida. I wish you a Safe Trip & enjoy yourselves being in Florida.
Wao!! Is it too far like that? Two days on the way? Am so sorry Mum! because you will get tired while on the way.

Yes of course am praying for you. Why should I not Pray for My Mum's Safe Trip? I wish you a blessed Journey & a Safe return to Cleveland on 27 March. Please give my Best regards to My Grand Mum & Dad. Let them know that you found a new Son Bashir.

Am so happy that you sent the Copies of My Photos to Douglas.

Two hours More before we Face LIVERPOOL. I have already got bath & put in a MANCHESTER UNITED Jersey.

But am Confident that we are going to thump them with a Humiliation Victory.

It is going to be a Terrific Game!!

Tomorrow I will be back to let you know the Results of that Game of the Season.

MAY GOD KEEP YOU SAFE IN FLORIDA & HE SHOULD GUIDE YOU ON THE WAY BACK TO CLEVELAND.

AM YOUR OWN SON,
BASHIR!

Mar 19 2010 from Cleveland

Mambo, Bashir! How is my dear son today? I'm happy to tell you that today I mailed the copies of your photos to Douglas!

Indeed I do remember when we were coming from the airport to Palm Beach Hotel, and you told me that Americans are so friendly and are not racists. I remember we talked about how wonderful it is that our President is Barack Obama!

Wooo-Hooo! On Sunday I will be cheering for MANCHESTER UNITED to triumph in our Titanic struggle over arch rival LIVERPOOL!

Tomorrow (Saturday 20 March), Mr. Jimmy and I are taking our yearly trip to visit his Mum and Dad in Flagler Beach, Florida! His parents are really funny and nice, and we have a super time visiting them. We drive our car and it takes two days to drive from Cleveland to Florida, so we sleep in a hotel one night on the way. I will bring my little laptop that you remember from the Palm Beach Hotel lobby! But I might not be able to email you every single day as I usually do, but I will email you as often as I can!! Then we will return to Cleveland the night of Saturday 27 March, and my email habits will return to normal.

Please pray for Mr. Jimmy and me to be blessed with safe travels and a a safe return home. And please don't worry, because Almighty God will watch over your Mum and Dad! Every day of our trip, I will pray for my Precious Son Bashir to be blessed, healthy, and happy!

MAY GOD BLESS MY WONDERFUL SON!

Your loving and faithful Mum

Mar 19 2010 from Dar Es Salaam

Hi Mum!

I forgot to tell you the Meaning of a Malawi's Proverb in it's Original CHEWA language,
It is called 'LONJEZO NDI NGONGOLE' It Means 'A PROMISE IS A LOAN'.

Am so happy to hear & know the reasons that made me to deserve to find such a wonderful & helpful mother like you.
I always Praise & thank GOD for that, because he is the one who planned all of that to happen.

But even yourself deserved to be welcomed so warmly just because you were so smiling & Friendly.
That is why if you remember very well when we were coming from Airport to Palm Beach Hotel, I told you that AMERICANS are so different with other European People. Most of Americans are so Freindly & are not Racists. Do you remember that?

It's MANCHESTER UNITED .VS. LIVERPOOL on this Sunday. This will be the Game of the Season, because both of them have been the Arch Rivals for a long time. It's a Must game for us to win because if we lose, Our hopes of a Title Race will be in Serious Doubt. WHAT A MASSIVE GAME!!!!

Mar 18 2010 from Cleveland

Hello my dear Son Bashir! I'm very glad you asked me the questions and as always, you ask the most excellent, insightful, thoughtful questions. Here are my answers for you.

Before i visited Dar Es Salaam, I had no intention or idea to find and help an African boy. I decided to help you just because you deserved it, and because I knew the Hand of God was clearly at work in bringing us together.

You deserved it because you and Mr. Iddi took such fine care of me and helped me so much during my time in Dar Es Salaam. You treated me like family and helped me to feel at home. "Jiskia upo nyumbani" in Dar Es Salaam!

Also, it was so clear and obvious to me that the Hand of Almighty God had brought us together. When I first saw you and Mr. Iddi at the airport, I felt like it was a reunion with my family, not like meeting strangers.

Also, I could see what a brilliant, hard-working young man you are, and how I could help you by encouraging you and paying for your education and other needs.

I always remember my years of horrible poverty when Christopher was a baby (he is 5 years older than Douglas). All those years ago, I promised myself that if I ever had enough money and God wanted me to help someone, I would do so happily, to thank God for blessing my family with a decent life. I could see that you simply needed encouragement for your many wonderful talents, and money to pay for education. I could see that you are brilliant and dedicated and will be a great success in the world. Also, I greatly admired your talent for translation and fluency in many languages.

And the longer we know each other, the more amazing and wonderful things I discover about you! That is why I can always trust God to guide us, because He has guided me every step of my life, and I keep following His directions, and He has blessed us so well!

"A Promise Is a Loan." That is a marvelous and true saying of Malawi. Now I ask you to forgive your Mum for a promise I made but did not remember to do, which was to make copies of your Christmas and New Year's Day pictures and send them to Douglas. Please accept my apologies for forgetting to do it. I will be happy to do it tomorrow! I'm also happy you sent him an email!

This evening in Cleveland it was very pleasant, 10 degrees Celsius, so Mr. Jimmy and I just took a walk around the neighborhood. We saw many young moms and dads taking their babies for a walk or taking their little children for a bike ride.

How is the weather in Dar Es Salaam? Rainy? Still too hot?

MAY GOD BLESS MY SON!

Your loving and devoted Mum

Dear Bashir, in my other email, I forgot to say that I'm so relieved and happy that your father is doing well and is not so hungry these days! I promise to send you more money for your dear father as soon as possible so he may continue to eat better. And I share his Dream that we will see each other face to Face if God wishes, and I pray too that God lets that Dream Come True!

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR DEAR FATHER!

Your devoted and caring Mum

Hi Mum!

Am so delighted to read your Encouraging Email. I always recommend you for being a Caring Mother of Mine.

My father of Malawi is well & appreciates for a Prestigious Help you are providing to him & his Son Bashir.
But he always says that his Dream is to see you face to Face if God wishes. He asks God to let that Dream Come True.

Am also happy to hear that You will send my dear father Money for Food again. That's a good & Welcome news to him as he still Strugling with Hunger & Poverty. But nowadays he says that there is a releif of Hunger just because of your help.
You have absolutely changed His life & living standards.

Mum Please forgive Me if I will make mistake to ask you this question: Did you have any Intetion or Idea of to find & Help an African Boy before you Visited Dar-es-Salaam? I mean, Did you Plan that before? Or Did you decide to help Me just because I deserved that? If I deserved it, then How did I deserve that? Was that your Dream & Ambition to Help an African Poor Boy like Me?

I really proud of you Mum!!

AM YOUR SON
BASHIR!

Hi Mum!

I have just Come back to tell you that I have sent DOUGLAS an Email. Because it's a long time ago since we spoke to each other. Infact I was telling him that Next Week am going to send him the PHOTOS I promised.

I always try to Fulfill the Promise, because there is a Proverb in Malawi's Language of CHEWA which Says that
"A PROMISE IS A LOAN". It means that it's very important to fulfill whatever we Promise.

I always like to follow your footsteps. Because you always fulfil & do what you Promise.

You will be My Lovely Mum forever & I will never Regret that!!!!!

MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

AM BASHIR!

Mar 17 2010 from Cleveland

Hello, my dear Son, and asante sana for your beautiful and heartfelt email. I have read and re-read it kumi times, and every time I thank God for bringing us together in this world, through the miracle of His love and wisdom.

My prayer is that even though you cry tears of sadness for your past suffering, that you will also now have endless smiles of joy for your new success and happiness, and for your new family who loves you.

You deserve all your new success and joy because you are a brilliant, dedicated, hardworking young man with a great hunger for education and for doing good work in the world. You treat others with respect and kindness, and you are willing to work hard to achieve your dreams and goals. You are a Son who any mother would be proud to have. I am very blessed and fortunate to be able to call you My Son.

I remember you telling me about the importance of Maize in Africa, and now I understand how it is used in "Ugali." That reminds me to ask, how is your precious father? I am saving money for your mattress and for another gift of money for your father. My prayer is to send you money for those things on March 31 if God wishes.

My heart dances with joy and I smile each time I think of my Son's great happiness, education, and success! You are a wonderful and brilliant and caring young man.

MAY GOD BLESS MY SON!

From your Mum who loves and admires you

Hi Mum!

You really deserve to be happy because our Team Triumphly beat FULHAM by 3-0.
Wao!! What a tramendous Victory!!! 2 goals were Courtesy of WAYNE ROONEY.
We have now back on top of the League.

Thank you so much Mum for the Western Union information & I promise to be back in the evening to inform you about the Collection of the Money.

When we reported about our Lecturer's Problem, at first they told us that the Time is already Over, but right now they have decided twice & added us 1 more week.

Yes, those are African food & especially in Tanzania. Yes I once ate all of that. Mchicha is like Vegetables.
UGALI is our Staple Food that we eat everyday. It's made up of 'MAIZE FLOUR'. Our main food is UGALI & everyone eats UGALI because we rely on it. Even in MALAWI it's the Same. The money you sent my Dad, he bought MAIZE for UGALI. That is why I told you that the Main weapon to defeat Hunger in Africa is MAIZE.

It's really nice to hear all about your Master's Degree Studies!!! It's quiet admirable & encouraging.
But I also really understand & agree that you are too busy.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU MUM!!

AM YOUR SON,
BASHIR!

Mar 15 2010 from Cleveland

Hello my fine Son! Last night when I wrote you, I forget to tell you about my studies.

I am in a "master's" degree program, which begins after the student completes the "bachelor's" degree.

For example, you are in the first year of your bachelor's degree program in Business Administration. I completed my bachelor's degree in two subjects, English and communications. Now, my master's degree program is in creative writing.

A bachelor's degree is also called an "undergraduate" degree. A master's is also called a "graduate" degree.

Because I'm working at several jobs, I only have time to take one master's class (also could be called a module) at a time. So I won't finish my master's degree very soon. But that's okay! Eventually I will finish it. And I really like the classes.

Tonight after work, I will go to Western Union to send your money. I will email you again tonight with the Western Union information.

MAY GOD BLESS MY DEAR SON BASHIR!

Your devoted and caring Mum

Mar 15 2010 from Cleveland
Hello, my dear son Bashir!

I sent 150 U.S. Dollars, which is about 199,000 shillings. It's for your monthly money for meat, Internet cafe, transportation, lunch at school, and other necessities!

MAY GOD BLESS MY SON!

Yours faithfully,

Your Mum Nicole

Mar 14 2010 from Cleveland

Hello my dear Bashir,

I am hoping to hear good news that MANCHESTER UNITED has beaten FULHAM! I hope you enjoyed your time watching the game and that we won a great victory!

Today I read about these three Tanzania foods: mchicha, mtori, and ugali. Have you eaten these foods? Did you enjoy them?

I have not yet mailed the package to you and Hilda because the books have not yet arrived to me. I had to order them by mail. I hope to receive them Monday or Tuesday, and then prepare the package to mail to Hilda's post office box!

Regarding the unsatisfactory lecturer of Graphic Design, what is Learnit College's response to the problem? Did I understand correctly that they said they can do nothing because the class will soon be over?

Tomorrow will be Monday 15 March. In the evening I will go to Western Union and send your money! Then I will come home and send you the email with all the information.

MAY GOD BLESS MY WONDERFUL SON BASHIR!

Your faithful and loving Mum

Mar 14 2010 from Dar Es Salaam

Hi Mum!

As I always say that I really proud of you Mum for your Determination to Education. I even ask God to give Me such a Spirit of a Desire to Learn More. Have a nice Trip to the University of AKRON. When will you finish that Class of a Masters Degree? What Kind of Studies are you studying?

Yes of course Mum! We should take a specific reaction when a Lecturer does not satisfy us. Because we are there to learn & it's their responsibility to make sure that we Students are getting what we are there for!
Otherwise it's Unwise to Praise & Crap hands for a Lecturer who does not satisfy us. Because I believe in Truth & Justice, That's why I didn't want to hide you that the Lecturer is incapable of teaching Graphic Design. Because we want to Perfom & Demonstrate whatever we Learn. I even told HILDA that Problem of Lecturer, You can ask Her if you want.

Yes Mum! I agree with you for not sending Money of Matress tomorrow Monday.
Infact I was just telling you the Problem I am having so far, But my intension was not to Rush you.
That Problem has been there for a long time, then why should I rush you to solve it?
You will send it at the right time you wish!

Today MANCHESTER UNITED is Playing FULHAM at 4:30pm. I have got not much to say about it,

BUT LET THEM SPOIL OUR WEEKEND IF THEY CAN!!!

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Mar 13 2010 from Cleveland

Habari, my dear Son? In a few minutes, Mr. Jimmy and I will be driving to University of Akron for my master's class. Before we go, I want to send you this email!

Indeed, it's very wise for you and your classmates to express your concerns and opinions about the course at Learnit College. You are correct that when a lecturer is excellent, it is right to express appreciation, but when a lecturer is unsatisfactory, it is right to tell the college leaders, in order for them to make improvements.

For sure, I will have the $150 USD to send you on Monday. I don't think I will be able to send the mattress money on Monday, but I will send it as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding, Son!

MAY GOD BLESS MY FINE SON!
Your faithful and loving Mum

AM YOUR SON,

BASHIR

Mar 12 2010 from Cleveland

Hello my dear Son,

Yes, you're correct that yesterday was a busy day in Cleveland for your Mum! I had intended to email you late last night, but then I fell asleep. Now it is 5 o'clock in the morning on Friday 12 March. So all is well! I am awake very early to start another busy day. What time do you get up on school days?

I'm very glad to receive Hilda's address! I will tell you when I have mailed the "Lost Boys of Sudan" books -- it should be early next week. I will send one copy for Hilda and one for my fine Son!

You have made a wise schedule of going to the Internet Cafe in between your Morning and Evening classes at Learnit College. I'm sorry that you have to return tonight because of my sleepiness!

At the University of Dar Es Salaam, I was one of a few U.S. delegates to the "Pan African Reading For All Conference." Most of the 600 delegates were from African countries. The conference is for teachers, professors, publishers, and others who want to help more African people learn to read. I was one of the lecturers at the conference, and I also attended many other lectures every day.

The conference is held once every two years, and always in a different African country. In 2009, it was in Dar Es Salaam, of course. Prior to that, in 2007 it was in Ghana. Next time, in 2011, it will be in Botswana. I don't know yet if I will attend the Botswana conference. Right now I don't think I will, but we'll see what God wishes in time.

I have a few different jobs here in Cleveland. One of my jobs is helping adults learn to read -- "Adult Literacy." There are many adults in the U.S. who did not finish basic school and therefore they can't read their native language, English. I attended the conference because I am interested to find out what is the same and what is different in U.S. and Africa regarding problems with "literacy." The same thing: poor people in U.S. and Africa do not have access to good schools. Different thing: in Africa, all the people strongly desire education and will do everything humanly possible to get education, but in the U.S. many people think education is unimportant and they don't care about it.

Yes, I did receive the cost of the mattress of 75,000 shillings. On Monday 15 March, I pray that God will make it possible for me to send you extra money, along with the $150 USD, so you can buy the mattress.

MAY GOD BLESS MY DEAR, FINE, CARING, BRILLIANT SON BASHIR!

Your devoted and loving Mum

Mar 12 2010 from Dar Es Salaam

Mar 11 2010 from Dar Es Salaam

Hi Mum!

Am so happy to hear that the meaning of My name has impressed you. It Means 'ENTERTAINER'. In another way I can say that is person who likes to tell the good news & Smiles all the time. Who does not bring Stress & Anxiety to a fellow Mankind. Who solves Problems without Quarelling & fighting, but who solves a problem amicably through Reconciliation. He does not insult & speak an abussive Words. He is always with LOVE, UNITY,NICE & PEACEFUL words. That's the real definition of 'BASHIR'.

Hilda said that it's difficult for me to use Learnit's Box because it's too Busy & it's used by a lot of People, so she said that she is afraid of Unkown Missing of a Package. But it's True Mum & I agreed with her.

Then she decided to give me her own Address Box (Personal). But I will give you tomorrow because it's in my Note book & I have forgotten it at Home.

Am so happy to hear that this Coming Monday you will send me $150 Monthly Money. Mum, Did you see the Cost of a MATRESS I told you? I said it's Tsh 75,000. Let me now go back to Class!! Bye!!!!

GOD BLESS YOU MUM!!

AM YOUR OWN SON,
BASHIR!

Mar 10 2010 from Cleveland

Hello my dear Son, Bashir! I like the meaning of your name, "ENTERTAINER"! It's wonderful that you always bring happiness to everyone wherever you go! With your handsome smile and great sense of humor, you entertain people and bring joy. I have even read articles written by medical doctors who say laughing a lot is good for our health! So keep smiling and laughing every day.

I'm especially glad that you felt inspired and encouraged by my email. Yes, we will trust in God who has already done great things for us and He will surely continue to do more for us, all in His good time.

Let me know when you have asked Hilda if I may mail the two books to her at the Learnit address.

Monday 15 March is the day I will go to Western Union to send you $150 USD for your monthly money!

Hi Mum!!

Am so happy to read your encouraging Email. I have been inspired with it & am haapy to hear all you have said.
Of course it's true that Patient is very Significant, because everything is done by almighty God.
He is the one who plans for us. I like a person who likes to Put everything in the hands of God like you do.
Yes, We must believe that nothing Happens without God's wish.

Of course Mum, Who knew that we would meet in Dar-es-Salaam? It's only God who knew that!!
That is why I agree with you that we Must Pray & ask Him our needs each & everyday.

Oh!! it's quite sadness to hear that 'The Lost Boys' they suffer too in Cleveland.
Do you know the Sudanese President? His name is BASHIR.

Mum, Do you know the Meaning of my Name Bashir? Bashir is Arabic Name which means 'ENTERTAINER.'

The one who makes people Happy all the time. That is why I always try to Entertain People whereever I am.

AM YOUR OWN SON,
BASHIR!

Hello my dear Son,

Yes, please ask Hilda if I may send her a small package to the Learnit Institute post office box. The package will include two copies of the book I told you about -- one will be a gift for Hilda, and the other will be a gift for you! Right now I am still trying to find copies of the book. As soon as I succeed, I wil let you know.

It's a turkey in the Thanksgiving feast photo! Turkey is the traditional Thanksgiving food here. Have you ever eaten turkey? You might remember how I told you we fill ithe turkey with "Stuffing" and then roast it.

Now your Mum will share with you the wisdom of my years.

Jesus said, "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in Me."

My dear Son, you must have patience and peace, and believe and trust the Power of Almighty God that brought us together in Dar Es Salaam. We must pray daily and obey the plans God reveals to us day by day. God does not tell us the future, but He asks that we give our best to the work of each day. Right now His plan is for you to attend college in Dar Es Salaam. You must pray to Almighty God to give you patience and peace to fill your precious spirit, body, and mind. You must trust that He is providing you with the patience, peace, and everything you need for His perfect plana to manifest.

Remember that each success you achieve day by day prepares you for future successes.

Also, please trust your Mum's wisdom and caring in these matters.

Just as the hand of God brought us together in Dar Es Salaam, God's Almighty Hand recently brought me into contact with a woman who had heard about The Lost Boys of Sudan who are in Cleveland. Of course, that was very interesting for me. If God wishes for you to come to Cleveland in the future, I hope these men could be friends for you.

But here are a few things you must know about the Lost Boys of Sudan here in Cleveland. They live a very long distance from my home in "Bay Village." Their lives here are as difficult as your life is in Dar Es Salaam. They live in poverty and work at a grocery store. They do not have any time or any money for education. They suffer terribly from the bitter cold and long winters in Cleveland. They have been victims of crime and death in accidents. And they miss Africa and the Sudan, their families and their countrymen, even though their lives in Sudan were so bad because of the war.

I tell you these things so you will know the truth. The Lost Boys of Sudan do not have a happy life in Cleveland, but they "make the best of it" as we say.

It's really hard for Americans to get a job here, and it's almost impossible for an immigrant to get a job unless the immigrant arrives with an excellent education and can offer something very special to an employer. That's why you need to continue your excellent education in Dar Es Salaam. Also, here in America, college is so expensive that regular people like me cannot afford to pay for it. Therefore, students have to get big loans from the bank, and borrow thousands and thousands of dollars, and then it takes us a lifetime to pay back the loan, so we are always in a monstrous debt. However, in Dar Es Salaam, Learnit College is excellent and a reasonable price that I can pay in three payments each year for each year of your degree.

So, my Son, continue to do well and work brilliantly and energetically for your degree. Continue to do your excellent work with brilliance and courage and your jokes to keep you smiling!. Pray and trust in God. Trust in your Mum's wisdom and caring for you. Have peace and patience. And always remember that we are connected in spirit, even when there is a long distance between us.

MAY ALMIGHTY GOD BLESS YOU WITH ALL YOU NEED!

Your faithful and loving Mum

Habari, Son! I did find a bookstore that sells the book written by the Lost Boy of Sudan. I will get two copies, one for you and one for Hilda. Please read my other email to you (sent earlier today) for more information!

MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

Your loving and faithful Mum

Hi Mum!

Everyday before I write you an Email, I check & see the Photos you sent Me on Christmass Day.
I always Smile when I see My Chair which I would have sat if I were there. I also admire the Nice food you tabled on the Table. What kind of Food was that? Was it a Chicken? I didn't delete All of your Photos you sent me. They are all still there.

I already asked one day the Cost of a MATRESS & I was told that it's Tsh 75,000.

Oh!! it's really sympathetic to hear about 'The lost Boys of Sudan'. But nowadays there is abit relief in Sudan & there is a Presidential Election in April this year. Honestly, so far I haven't find yet a replacement of Palm Beach Hotel Address. But I will try to look for another one. I can even ask HILDA if I can use LEARNIT'S Box Address.

Even myself Mum! I pray during Day & Night for My EVER Expected Dream COME TRUE & REALITY.

You know what Mum? My heart is in Need of being Near with you & entire of your Family.
Please Mum! Try to do me that favour! If those Sudanese Fugitives of War Managed to Come there, then What about an Innocent person like Me? If you'll do me that Favour Mum, I promise that I 'll Recommend you untill the Day I will Die.

AM YOUR OWN SON,
BASHIR!

Hello my dear Son! I'm very happy that we won such an awesome victory with our goal, the Weapon of Mass Destruction! It sounds marvelous and exciting. I'm only sorry there is no fan to cool you as you watch the game.

It's great news that you have the Antivirus and successfully installed it on your Laptop. You are so brilliant! I hope the "Update" is easy for you to do?

Mr. Jimmy and I will pray, too, and as soon as possible, we will send you the money for your new room -- and also for a mattress! We don't want our Dear Precious Son to sleep on the floor! Tell me, how much will a good mattress cost?

Remember, too, on March 15, I will send you $150 USD at Western Union, for your monthly money.

Today I read about some men in Cleveland called "The Lost Boys of Sudan." They are now grown men who left Sudan when they were boys, during a terrible war there. Their families were killed and the Lost Boys were all alone except for each other. Now they work at a grocery store in Cleveland. One of them wrote a book about his experience. He wrote in English. I want to get a copy of the book he wrote and mail it to you, if you can think of a place where I can mail it instead of the Palm Beach Hotel.

I was thinking how the Lost Boys of Sudan had each other for friendship, but you left your home in Malawi to go to Dar Es Salaam all by yourself, independently, with no one to rely on but yourself. You gave great strength and courage,

Each day I pray to Almighty God to help make your dream come true of coming to Cleveland! I trust in God's goodness and power that He will make it so, in His perfect time.

MAY GOD BLESS MY WONDERFUL AND AMAZING SON!

Your loving and faithful Mum

Hi Mum!

We astonishingly Beat Wolves United by 1-0. The game was really a Titanic Struggle than we all imagined before.
We failed to utilise the Couple of Opportunities because their Defence was quiet Solid & Strong. That is why it was too hard for us to Penatrate & Unlock their Defence. But only one Goal was enough to Silence all Wolves United Fans at their own Stadium. That is why I have described that Goal as a 'Weapon of Mass Destruction!!

No! there is no Electric Fan there. We always feel too Hot & Sweaty.

Wao!! am so happy to hear that Perhaps in May I will get Money for a new Room from you. Of Course Mum, I really need to move away from the Current Place & have a Change.

Only I can do now is to Pray for My Dad Mr.Jimmy to Perform his normal Duties so that I can get it as soon as Possible.

But I would also like to tell you that am also in Need of 'MATRESS' for sleeping. I sleep on a Flow!
But this should not Panic you so far,you can do it after other things.

Yes! I already bought the 'ANTIVIRUS' & I already installed it in My Laptop. What is remaining now is to Update it so that it should Function so Effectively.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU MUM!!

AM YOUR OWN SON,
BASHIR!

Hello my dear Bashir,

I'm hoping to hear good news from you of a Manchester United victory over Wolves United! When you watch the game, is there an electric fan to cool you and the other people watching? Or is it hot and sweaty?

Yes, for sure Mr. Jimmy and I will send you the money for your new room so you can live in a much cleaner location with electricity. I think we will get enough money in April, but for sure by May. It depends when Mr. Jimmy returns to work. Did I tell you that when Mr. Jimmy is working again, we can afford for you to have a room that is 40,000 shillings per month?

I am so sorry that Malaria is the national crisis in Tanzania, and I want my dear son to live in a cleaner location as soon as possible!

Mr. Jimmy fixed my car and he also fixed Christopher's car this weekend! He worked outside in the cold to get both cars working right. He is a smart and dedicated husband and father!

Today it was cold - 0 degrees centigrade -- but it was beautifully sunny for the first time in many weeks. So after my car was fixed, Mr. Jimmy and I went for a drive in the valley, where we could see the river, the snow, and the trees. Lots of people were out walking in the sunshine but bundled up in their big winter coats because of the cold!

Tell me, did you succeed in getting the Antivirus on your laptop?

MAY GOD BLESS YOU, MY DEAR SON!

Your faithful and loving Mum

Hi Mum!!

I would like to tell you that MALARIA is a National Crisis in Tanzania. That is why when an Ex-President Bush of U.S came to Tanzania in 2007, his main Objective & Agenda was a Campaign to fight Malaria. He distributed Couple of Mosquito Net to the People of Tanzania, in Particular women & Children.

But what I want now is to move away from where am staying so far & get a safe Place of not Much Mosquito.
Because the Place I am living now is quiet a Polluted Environment, like Polluted water & other undesired Substances.
As I told you one day that the Place of ordinary people in Tanzania is quite poor & Unpleasant.

I will do that when you will send me the Money for Rent in Coming Months. Am hoping to find a Better Place if you send me that Money.

Yes! Every MANCHESTER UNITED Supporter is waiting for a Triumph Victory over Wolves United.
Am going to watch Just right now at 8pm Tanzania time. I have got nothing more to talk about it so far because I will talk more about it tomorrow after everything. Only I can say right now is LET THEM BEAT US IF THEY CAN!!!

May God Bless you Mum!

Am Your Son,
BASHIR!

Dear Son, asante sana for your wonderful email! Also, asante for telling me more details about your struggles with Malaria. You are a kind and loving son because you don't want to worry me. But I am very glad you told me about the continuing problem of Malaria, because I do want to know about your days and all your experiences.

From what I have read, mosquitoes thrive in the humid climate and low altitude (sea level) of Dar Es Salaam, especially during the rainy season. The mosquitoes then transmit Malaria to humans. In my reading, I learned that Malaria is not common in dry areas or high altitudes such as mountains. I also read that there is no vaccine to prevent Malaria.

Indeed it is another thing to love about your home country Malawi -- that it is free of Malaria!

I am glad the Clinic gives you the drugs you need to heal, but I'm sad the malaria comes back soon after.

My heart smiles to know you are enjoying your Studies. And I will be cheering for Manchester United to win an awesome victory against Wolves United!

MAY GOD BLESS MY PRECIOUS SON BASHIR!

Your loving and faithful Mum

Hi Mum!

Am so proud for having a Wonderful & Caring Mum like you too!!

To talk about Malaria, I can say yes am still in struggle with it. The main challenge which I face here is Malaria.

I go to the Clinic to have Test & they always find me Malaria. They give me Drugs, but I get sick again after a Short period of Time.

But I don't like to tell you that am Sick because I always afraid of making you Sad & Unhappy that your Son is Sick.

I was not a Victim of Malaria in Malawi. I could even live 1 year without being attacked by any other Sickness in Blantyre.

But now am fine & am still enjoying my Studies. But don't worry about that Mum, because it's normal. People get sick & heeled.
I always get a relief when I get Drugs! So Please Mum!! Don't take it as so Serious because am now fine.

To talk about Manchester United, Tomorrow will play Wolves United.
Am hoping to win with excellent Victory.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU MUM!

AM YOUR SON,
BASHIR!
